The project responds to the need for a new bridge over the Rodfano river following the correction of the watercourse which provides for its enlargement. The road and rail bridge will connect the municipalities of Ollon (Vaud) and Monthey (Valais). The current bridge fully satisfies the static and functional needs, as well as being particularly elegant and well integrated into the environment. The choice was therefore to maintain it and be respectful of the existing structure according to the principles of sustainable development. We therefore propose a structure as elegant as possible, which integrates into the landscape without disturbing it. The extension of the current bridge will be a 47m span designed as a single beam. For modeling the new one, we chose to using the existing bridge thicknesses and dimensions, allowing us to save material and meet maintenance criteria. For the railway bridge project we opted for a concept aligned with the road bridge without competing with it. This project, aimed at containing costs and the duration of the works, emanates a strong and harmonious image and fits perfectly into its environment, letting the history of the existing structures shine through.
